On October 25, we took our Film Factory students back to the Nasher Sculpture Center to practice framing figures in foreground and background and explore depth of field.
The kids had a blast filming various sculptures as foreground and background objects and also practiced engaging with art-objects (in this case, sculptures) for emotions and motivation – essential elements to reading, writing, and storytelling in general and film in particular. Shout out to our high school students who worked as team mentors to our elementary and middle school students! It is fantastic to see the multiple grade levels collaborating and learning together.
Film Factory is in its second year as a pilot program teaching the basics of film theory and production to 4th-8th grade students from both our Waxahachie and Oak Cliff Campuses.
