In Celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month our first through eighth grade Waxahachie students made beautiful ofrendas (or altars) for Día de los Muertos to honor a favorite family member.

Students learned about the historical significance of Día de los Muertos in Ms. Lee's Spanish class; learned about the "art" of decorating the "calaveras" (skulls) and creating their "ofrendas" in Ms. James art class; and were inspired by mariachi music in Ms. Bryant's music class. National Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes Hispanic and Latino Americans culture from September 15 to October 15 in the United States.
